Credit RequirementsCourse and thesis credits: Ph.D.Each student will choose a program of study in consultation with his or her research advisor or three-member advising committee.Course programs for Ph.D. students in Scientific Computation require a minimum of 24 graduate credits, of which at least 12 must be in Scientific Computation degree program core courses (see list below). Thesis credits are also required in addition to the 36 course credits required for a Ph.D. program in Scientific Computation. All Ph.D. students at the University of Minnesota are required to enroll for a minimum of 24 thesis credits while writing the doctoral thesis. Courses are listed below by department.
